March 21: Young Artists Concerto Competition winners perform

The DeKalb Symphony Orchestra is excited to feature the three finalists of our Young Artists Concerto Competition on March 21, 2017.  Along with receiving cash awards, the winners of the competition will be performing movements from selected pieces with orchestra.  First place winner, sixteen-year old violinist Phoebe Liu, will perform Korngold’s Violin Concerto.  Second place winner, sixteen-year old pianist Yuy Hsiang, will perform Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2. Third place winner, fourteen-year old cellist Lexine Feng, will perform Lalo’s Cello Concerto.  The DSO is delighted to be able to showcase some of Atlanta’s finest young musical talents.

Also on the program is Overture to Nabucco and the world premiere of “Impressions from Japan” by Atlanta composer, Amy Leventhal.

This concert will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the Marvin Cole Auditorium at Georgia State University, Clarkston Campus.  The public is invited to meet the conductor at the 7 p.m. pre-concert conversation.  To purchase tickets you may call 678-891-3565 or buy tickets here.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
